Alex Reitzenstein
EU Initiative Program Officer

Alexander Reitzenstein is a Program Officer, focusing on CI’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions across geographies and sectors in the EU. His current work includes industry and buildings decarbonization, electrification and climate policy at both the EU and national levels.

Previously, Alex developed and implemented climate strategies at Allianz Foundation and worked with the Council for Sustainable Development, an advisory body to the German government, on domestic and international climate policy. Prior to this, Alex served as a senior policy advisor at E3G, focusing on coal phase-out, industry decarbonization, and the clean economy. He also supported philanthropic foundations and multilateral organizations as a strategy consultant.

Alex holds a dual master’s degree in public policy from the London School of Economics and Hertie School, and a degree in political science, economics, and business from the University of Munich, with a semester at American University in Washington, DC. Based in Berlin, Germany, he enjoys climbing and cycling in the Alps, playing tennis, and exploring Berlin’s independent bookstores.
