Alexander Reitzenstein is a Program Officer working on the EU Initiative to realize and enhance the ambition of the European Green Deal. Alongside this position, he is the Program Manager of the European Climate Hub, a partnership by Climate Imperative and Allianz Foundation.
Previously, Alex worked with the Council for Sustainable Development, an advisory body of the German government, on informing domestic and international climate policy. Prior to this, Alex was a senior policy advisor with the climate and energy think tank E3G, focusing on coal phase-out and a just transition, industry decarbonization, and green finance, as well as German and EU climate politics. He started his professional career as a consultant and was involved in strategy, change management, and engagement projects with UN organizations, philanthropic foundations, and NGOs.
Alex holds a dual master’s degree in public policy from the London School of Economics and Political Science and Hertie School of Governance, and gained his undergraduate degree in political science, economics, and business from the University of Munich, including a semester abroad at American University, Washington, DC. Alex lives in Berlin, Germany, and you will most likely find him playing for his tennis team, climbing and cycling in the Alps, or visiting Berlin’s great selection of independent bookstores.
