Chris Littlecott
Director, Global Electricity Initiative

Chris Littlecott is Director of the Global Electricity Initiative at Climate Imperative, leading efforts to accelerate the transition from coal to clean power.

Chris has 20 years’ experience as an analyst, advocate, advisor, and strategist. He has worked in the UK, Europe, and globally, to shape government policies and increase diplomatic cooperation in support of power sector transformation.

Prior to joining Climate Imperative, Chris was Associate Director for Fossil Fuel Transition at the think tank E3G. He created and grew E3G’s team on coal to clean transition, working to secure the UK’s national coal phase out commitment; the creation and influence of the Powering Past Coal Alliance; and the effort to ‘consign coal to history’ through the UK’s Presidencies of G7 and COP26.

Chris began working on coal in 2008 as part of the successful UK civil society campaign against new coal power plant construction. He has supported the development of national and international civil society networks, including the creation of Europe Beyond Coal. From 2008-2012 he served as Board Member and Vice President of European Environmental Bureau, Europe’s largest network of environmental NGOs.

Chris has worked extensively on Carbon Capture and Storage, including as a member of the Advisory Council of ZEP, the EU technology platform, and as a Policy Research Associate with the Scottish CCS academic network. He has also worked on topics including electricity market reform, UK-EU relations, and EU budget reform.

Chris has a BSc in Environmental Management and Policy from the London School of Economics, and an MProf in Leadership for Sustainable Development from Middlesex University & Forum for the Future.
