Lele Zou
China Industry and Power Initiative Director

Lele is the China Industry and Power Initiative Director responsible for strategy scoping, project management, and partner coordination under Climate Imperative’s China Initiatives director.

 

Lele has over 15 years of experience in energy and climate. Before joining Climate Imperative, Lele worked as the Power Principal in RMI China. Prior to joining RMI, she was an associate professor at the Institute of Science and Development at the Chinese Academy of Sciences for more than decade, where she carried our theoretical, methodological and practical research in the field of green development and low-carbon transition. She specialized in policy design and the evaluation of energy structure and efficiency, emission reductions, market-based instruments, and other topics.

 

Lele has chaired over 30 projects entrusted by Chinese national and provincial government departments. She has supported and directly contributed to the design and development of multiple national and sectorial policies. Her project achievements won two ministerial awards, and Lele has published more than 30 peer-reviewed research articles in international journals and book chapters.

 

Lele received her B.E in control theory and engineering from University of Science & Technology Beijing, and her M.A. in control theory from Department of Automation in Tsinghua University. She received her Ph.D. in energy and environmental economics from the Chinese Academy of Sciences. She lives in Beijing with her husband and two children.
