Minshu Deng is a Policy Analyst for Climate Imperative. She works with the Energy Policy Solutions team to analyze initiatives and identify policies that most effectively meet energy and climate goals.
Minshu previously worked as an analyst and environmental scientist at Eastern Research Group, Inc., a firm covering a broad range of environmental services including regulatory support and communications strategy. Her clients included federal and state agencies such as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, and the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry. Minshu contributed to a wide variety of projects including the Gulf of Mexico restoration plan and final settlement following the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, data management for several emissions inventories, and research on environmental and health risks to vulnerable populations. While between roles at Eastern Research Group, she conducted research at an energy policy nonprofit focused on the effects of early nuclear power plant shutdowns. Her research has been cited in the New York Times and other major media outlets.
Minshu received her Master of Environmental Management with a specialization in energy systems from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies and a B.A. in environmental science and policy from Duke University. As a student, she supported businesses on their emission reduction strategies and spent time abroad with organizations in India, Jordan, and Rwanda working on sustainable energy and climate solutions.
